Cusco City is one of the most beautiful  and interesting cities along Peru country. It was the capital of the Tahuantinsuyo known as the navel of the world. This fabuolous half day tour takes you around all the most important sites of Cusco. Including visits to Cusco's Cathedral, the Temple of the Sun (Qoricancha) and the various Inca sites found outside of the city you get to see an incredible mixture of Inca and Spanish-style and in the case of Qoricancha, the two combined. Cusco is truly a fascinating place to visit; providing a blend of the two cultures (Inca and Spanish).

City Tour Half Day: Qoricancha, Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puca Pucara, Tambomachay,

We will meet in your Hotel at 13:40 to begin this city tour. From here we will go to the Convent of Santo Domingo - Qoricancha, where you will appreciate the contrast between the Inca culture and Catholicism, in this place we will immediately observe the different construction methods of the time. The construction incaica was incredible, Qoricancha was a religious center since it owned many divinities to the interior and as main deity was the God of the Sun (Inti). Also in the place you can see different colonial paintings of the time.

  • "In the temple of Qoricancha, you will appreciate that the materials and technique are very similar to that of Sacsaywamán or Machu Picchu, except that the Megalithic style is not presented here"

After the visit our group will take the tourist bus to leave the outskirts of the city. Sacsayhuaman is our next stop. A majestic Inca site, with its lithic and enigmatic monoliths can weigh up to 200 tons. Your guide will offer you an explanation of this phenomenal site and you will have free time to explore on your own the strength of Sacsayhuaman.

From Sacsayhuaman to Q'enqo it is 5 minutes by bus, another inca site with its fascinating Inca altars. Q'enqo was a center possibly for ceremonial purposes of sacrifice of some camelids, although others mention that in their inner altar they embalmed their dead. Of particular interest are its semicircular amphitheater and its underground galleries.

We continue to Puca Pucara a small Inca building, a red fortress that is presumed to have been used as a watchtower. This fortress is composed of large walls, terraces and stairways and was part of the defensive set of Cusco in particular and the Inca Empire in general. The last stop on our tour is Tambomachay, a temple of water worship. It is also known as the royal baths of the Inca, with its impressive water sources. Tambomachay consists of a series of aqueducts, canals and several waterfalls that run along the rocks.

What places does the Cusco City Tour include?

The City Tour in Cusco will take you to visit some of the most beautiful places in Cusco, among these is one of the most enigmatic places on the planet; there is no person who sees the amazing strength of Sacsayhuaman and is not stunned!! Join us in this adventure around Cusco:

In the city of Cusco:

  • The Qoricancha Temple (Convent of Santo Domingo) is one of the most important religious centers of the Inca Empire, and it is definitely one of the best examples of the fusion of the Inca and Spanish cultures. It is located 2 blocks from the Main Square of Cusco; It houses paintings from the Cusquenian School and Inca structures that are true works of art.

Around Cusco:

  • Sacsayhuaman is one of the most enigmatic places on the planet, its 3 overlapping platforms of 390 m long, were built with "huge stones carved" and fitted with incredible precision; You can appreciate stones up to nine meters high and more than 120 tons in weight. This place is the head of the puma created by the original layout of the imperial city of Cusco. Here the Inti Raymi or Sun Feast is celebrated, on June 24 of each year.
  • The Qenqo Archaeological Complex is located one km from Sacsayhuaman and will be its next stop, it was a center of worship, and ceremonial Inca; It was dedicated to Mother Earth. In this place a space called amphitheater stands out, since the Incas had to place their dead in their trapezoidal niches; At present, only half of the original structure remains.
  • The archaeological group of Puca Pucara: Puca Pucara will be the next place you will visit, it is 10 minutes from Qenqo and is known as the red fortress, thanks to the amount of iron present in its stones. It is deduced that this place was used as a military post and resting place, and it is possible that its function was to take care of Tambomachay: in this archaeological site you will be able to appreciate fountains, aqueducts and several Inca enclosures of great architectural quality.
  • Tambomachay: Tambomachay (tanpu mach'ay, or place of rest) is the last site of the City Tour Cusco, it is located only 100 meters from Puca Pucara; It was used as a center to worship the water. The enclosure is formed by a set of finely carved rocks, falls and water, canals and aqueducts fed by nearby springs.
